The appointed five-member board provides program guidance for the Alma-Bacon County Recreation Department.  The City of Alma and the County of Bacon appoint Board members for 5-year terms.  A Chair and Vice Chair are elected from the membership.

The Recreation Board meets on the second Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the County Meeting Room.  Commission meetings are open to the public.

If an individual wishes to be placed on the agenda for the Recreation Board, the following procedure should be followed:

Must submit a written request to the Recreation Director by the 1st Thursday of the month.  The written request should include:

  1. Who is to be placed on the agenda?

  2. Identify the topic to be discussed.

  3. Verify that proper channels have been followed. (ex. Athletic request-talked with Coach and Recreation Director)

  4. Brief summary of action requested of the Recreation Commission and why.

Any person wishing to address the Recreation Board that follows the above guidelines will be allowed five minutes to present their request. If more than one person wishes to talk on the same subject, the Recreation Board Chairperson will appoint one spokesperson for the group as appropriate.
